A great little mountain town nestled in the valley of the Red River Pass.
This is the second year we've spent some of our February time in Red River. We love the western small-town feel, the proximity of the slopes, & the people are super-welcoming. In the winter there's skiing, snowboarding & snowmobiling, & in the summer you can come back to hike, bike, fish & ride horses in the mountains.
We love the fact that the slopes are literally minutes away from where you stay, as opposed to having to drive over an hour up a mountain to the lifts. The snow is always great in February & on into March if you prefer to go during Spring Break.
Literally anywhere in town is a great place to stay; (sorry, not gonna tell you where we stay though, that's our secret!). Although we prefer to have a cabin with a kitchen because we like to cook all our meals in, there are some great restaurants to get good eats at. And there's always something going on in Red River! The events calendar is loaded year-round with something for everyone.
We will tell you, we always rent our ski equipment from All Seasons Sports because they were recommended to us. These guys, they remember you from year to year, we love that! They know their equipment & they're so helpful & honest when it comes to advice on renting or buying the right gear for your needs. If you go, tell 'em the Brandon Jordan family from Central Texas sent you : )
Red River thrives on its tourist traffic, & from experience, it's a great place to visit & take your family skiing & snowboarding; you will find yourself going back again. They DO know how to make families feel special! A big RECOMMEND!
