A tasty elixir that you can take daily as a supplement or preventative measure. It can be made with fresh-picked or dried elderberries.
Why pay big bucks for a small bottle from the store when you can reap the benefits + satisfaction of making it yourself. This recipe is made with dried berries.
4 cups water
3/4 cup black elderberries, dried
1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder
1/2 teaspoon clove powder
2 Tablespoons ginger, fresh-grated or powdered
2/3 cup raw local honey
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar with 'the mother'
Place water, elderberries, cinnamon powder, clove powder, + ginger in a medium saucepan + bring to a boil. Cover pan + reduce heat to a simmer. Simmer for about an hour or until the liquid is reduced to about half. Take a spoon + press berries carefully in the can to release juices. Pour liquid from saucepan through a fine metal sieve into a bowl. Add in honey + apple cider vinegar. Stir well. Once honey is mixed in well, use a funnel to pour into glass mason jars or a glass bottle. Store in fridge.
We [adults] take 2 Tablespoons 3 times a day when we feel stuffy. You are free to take or do whatever you think is best.
I got some flip-top glass bottles like the one seen here at our local Dollar Tree that I use to store our syrup in, but they can also be found online + in other stores.
