Brownies

These always turn out. And put the icing on them, trust me.

Not everyone ices their brownies, but can I say that if you don't, you're missin' out big time! Grandma Browning never makes a pan of brownies that she doesn't have chocolate icing ready to finish them off with. It's just more chocolate, need I say more??? Just promise me you'll do it next time you make some, k?

Brownies

1/2 cup butter

1 cup raw sugar

2 eggs, lightly beaten

1 teaspoon vanilla

1/3 cup cocoa powder, unsweetened

1/2 cup flour

1/4 teaspoon himalayan pink salt

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

Icing:

3 tablespoons butter, softened

3 tablespoons cocoa powder, unsweetened

1 tablespoon raw local honey (we only use Round Rock Honey)

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 cup powdered sugar

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease & flour an 8" square glass baking pan. In a large saucepan, melt the butter. Remove from heat, & stir in sugar, eggs, & vanilla. Hand-stir in cocoa powder, flour, salt, & baking powder (do not use a mixer!). Spread batter into prepared pan, then lick the spoon clean. Bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes. Watch out so not to overcook!

Make icing: Combine all icing ingredients & stir until smooth. Let brownies cool a bit then ice. Hide & lick the bowl. Cut brownies into squares & fight over who gets the corners.

This recipe can be doubled, bake a little longer, & made into a larger baking dish for a larger crowd or just a family of 4, whichever, I don't judge. And if you'd like to go extra special, sprinkle some large salt flakes over the top of the icing & have yourself a sweet & salty experience!
